POLOKWANE OVAL STARTS WITH A BANG IN 2014

Polokwane Oval will use 2013 as a stepping stone for 2014 to achieve even better results.

In 2013 Polokwane Oval grabbed 5 of the National titles in Motorsport South Africa’s Oval category and will surely achieve more considering the entries for this year.

In the Rookie class Top Points scorer for 2013 Roean van Breda will have his mirrors full of 12 other Rookies. This is an entry class in Oval where the youth is trained for the other faster classes in Oval, however, these kids produces some of the most spectacular racing.

In December a lot of drivers in the Stockrod class spend their holidays on their cars. This class is to run for National honours in 2014 Motorsport South Africa gave the go ahead. This class consists of stock Standard cars with minor modifications on the engine and suspension. Tienie Kloppers, former Champion will compete against Joseph Bothma, Louis Reytenberg of Mokopane, Frans Malatji and others.

The 1600 Modifieds are known for the bumper to bumper racing. Heath Bent will take on his father Sammy, JJ Fourie has his new car sorted and the Cooper family from Mokopane will also see that nobody cross the finish line easily.

In the 2.0L Modifieds, Regional Champion Pieter Venter banged the wall in the last race of 2013 and had to build a new car. This is close to finish and just need some suspension settings to make it competitive. National Champion Johnny du Randt and brother Rudolf will complete the grid together with Roelof van Breda and Haccum Hough and newcomer Desmond Bosch. These cars have nearly no limitations and free to fit any modified / imported parts as long as it is powered by  a 2.0L engine.

National Title holders Allas Pienaar and Stephan Weideman will proof to our loyal spectators that they deserve their titles but this can also end in tears as in the Rotary class no inch is asked nor given. Andre Pienaar will pick up the pieces when these two make a mistake.

SZ Venter National Champion in the Super Saloon class had so technical gremlins in the last race of 2013 but hopefully all will be sorted. Piet Venter and Philip de Wett will complete the grid in the roaring V8’s.
